Selvedge 2 Selvedge film process

A little sneak peak of the film Kent Marcus is currently editing for Selvedge 2 Selvedge. Love the layering of the garment and the landscape. Katie looks beautiful as always!

Wool Modern

The beautiful Pier 2/3 at Walsh Bay in Sydney was the perfect setting for the Wool Modern exhibition with the huge timbre pillars that contrast with the stunning wool garments. Would love to do a shoot here!

My three favourites at the exhibition:
The Egg Twin, By Giles Deacon A/W 09/10, Made from heavy felt and trimmed with roving wool with grograin bonded armholes, 100% wool.

Prince Charming Wool Coat, By Vivienne Westwood A/W 10/11, 100% wool. The way that the jacket buttons up unevenly creates stunning folds in the jacket.

'Be sustainable. Use wool' Vivienne Westwood

Men's Ready-to-wear, By Lucus Ossendrijver for Lanvin A/W 10/11, 100% wool. This was the most amzing piece at the exhibition. The jacket and vest looked like it was knitted and then felted to create a worn and distressed look that was still ordered. Would love to try and recreate this technique.

Behind the scenes of the Selvedge 2 Selvedge film

Behind the scene photos of the film on Friday. We were so lucky to have the fantastic skills of Kent Marcus filming, Katie van den Bos modelling, Natalia Pastor with makeup and Amanda Fletcher with hair. Everything came together really well with the concept that Amy and I developed and how Kent interpreted this into film. The collaborative way we worked together was great. The concept for the film began with us creating the different stages of a garment and then this was related to Katie evolving as she discovered her environment, showing how the garment evolves. We surprisingly had great weather! Once Kent has made the final edit on the film we will have it up.

The missing piece jacket

After I finished cutting out my Peelback dresses the very end of the fabric looked like this... a whole section had been cut out of it. Not wanting to waste any of the fabric I decided to make this into a jacket as a 'one off' piece'

This was the sticker on the fabric saying there was a little 40x40cm hole in the Merino wool!

Experimenting with the piece

My Mum modelling the Missing piece jacket and Hold me up top

Back of the jacket, can be worn two ways
